Genesis Flores holds her son Jose Maria, 10 months, while laying on her medical bed May 6 in her home in Mission. Half way through her pregnancy on Easter weekend of April 2012 Flores was visiting family in Reynosa when she was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident that left her paralyzed. Flores was taken to McAllen Medical Center where doctors placed her into a coma and were able to save her and her son. Flores now relies on her family to help her as she tries to raise her child and learn to live with her paralysis.
